The Surrey Museum has been expanded to better serve a diverse community in one of Canada’s fastest growing cities, creating an exemplary cultural space for both residents and visitors. Alongside HCMA and Heatherbrae Builders, we helped the City of Surrey to design and construct a forward-looking facility that is also deeply rooted in their heritage.
DowelLam designed, fabricated, and installed the dowel laminated timber for the roof structure. The DLT panels are supported by steel structure below, and are typically 56' long with a main span of 34'. Of note are the linear conduit chases (2' o.c.) that were formed in the panels by using shallower boards at each panel edge.
Given the pre-fabricated nature of the mass timber roof, we installed all 50 panels in one day.
