Wy'east Middle School

Wy'east Middle School uses daylight, open circulation and exposed mass timber to create a range of welcoming spaces for individual study, collaboration and community gatherings.

The two-storey replacement school is organized around the idea of 'One, Some, Many, All,' offering spaces that range from quiet nooks to a daylit commons for the entire school. A central courtyard extends learning outdoors and gives the school a secure community focus.

DowelLam supplied the DLT structural deck and finish panels for the art room, commons and library. Acoustic material and building services are integrated within channels in the panels, preserving the continuous wood ceiling while reducing noise in the school's busiest shared spaces.
