Western Yacht Harbor

A glass-wrapped office overlooking Seattle's Lake Union is sheltered by a floating DLT roof that was installed from a barge above the working marina.

Rebuilt after a fire damaged the marina and its earlier office, the compact building uses a simple timber structure to frame panoramic views of the water and city. Operable glazed walls open the workspace to a surrounding deck, while deep roof overhangs provide solar and weather protection.

DowelLam supplied approximately 2,625 square feet of 2x6 DLT roof panels supported by glulam beams and columns. The lightweight prefabricated roof suited the constrained over-water site and was erected by the local construction team in a single day.
