Railyard Flats

New to the downtown Sioux Falls skyline is a mixed-use building demonstrating innovation, sustainability and the warmth of a natural structural material - wood. This project is the first modern mass timber project in South Dakota. At 4 storeys, the building consists primarily of apartments (including a loft) but is also connected to a 2-storey office, all featuring dowel laminated timber floors and roofs.

Located near a rail yard, the local ownership group wanted to pay tribute to historical materials such as wood, used in warehouses of old. The exposed ceilings in the lofts highlight the prefabricated DLT panels and glulam frame.
