A contemporary civic workplace on Washington State's historic Capitol Campus, the Newhouse Replacement Building pairs a steel frame with exposed acoustic Dowel-Laminated Timber floors.

The four-storey building houses Senate offices, public meeting rooms, educational spaces and a skylit central stair known as the Mixing Chamber. Its material palette connects the new workplace to Washington's timber heritage while salvaged stone, glass and wood preserve links to the earlier building.

DowelLam supplied approximately 42,200 square feet of acoustic DLT floor panels. The exposed timber decks incorporate acoustic inserts to control sound while contributing to the building's low-carbon, biophilic interior.
