Located in the downtown Oak Grove neighborhood of Portland, the New Urban High School provides a creative, project-based learning environment for up to 200 students. Designed by Opsis Architecture, the 38,899-square-foot building includes a media center, art room, Career Technical Education classroom, traditional classrooms, and a multi-functional commons area that serves as both cafeteria and exhibit space. The design prioritizes inclusivity and community, with spaces for the Oak Grove Center and Twilight after-hours degree completion program, as well as a counseling suite and administrative support.
The building features a two-story commons and other spaces constructed with Acoustic and Kerf DLT. The DLT system was chosen for its structural efficiency and aesthetic quality, bringing natural warmth to the central gathering space. Manufactured for optimal performance, the DLT panels deliver a durable, sustainable solution tailored to the needs of the school’s active environment.
